There were a number of changes made at the 2010 Synod convention that are impacting the 2012 Mid-South District Convention and all the congregations of our Synod.
Synod Secretary, Dr. Raymond Hatwig, has sent and will continue to send large postcard type mailings to each congregation with updates on changes and their impact on your congregation. Each congregation should have received six of these by now. If you have missed them or misplaced the information they can be found at this link: http://www.lcms.org/page.aspx?pid=1219
Delegates to the 2012 district conventions will be the people who will electronically cast their congregation’s vote in the 2013 national election for the President of the Synod. However, congregations can only participate in the 2013 vote if their delegates attend and are certified as the official delegate at their 2012 district convention. This means that delegates will have to have access to and some familiarity with a computer and the Internet.
Preliminary reports show little or no damage to LCMS member homes and churches. There have been:
Leaving May 7 this group is planning on putting a roof on a woman’s dorm at a Lutheran High School. Leaving May 20 this is a mission group planning to outreach into the rural villages of Tanzania. And going on Safari at the end of the mission. Previous trip
Two groups are discussing a trip to work with Pastor Mark Eisold LCMs missionary to Peru (Dates to be determined). More
