CARE-VAN

Thank you for being involved!

We at the District Office appreciate the eight churches that provided drop-off locations for the Roadway Express trucks.  The donated items were loaded on their trailers and delivered to Lutheran World Relief warehouse in Maryland.  A thank yuou to the coordinators and volunteers who helped make CARE-Van a success.

To me the word “success” sends a tangible message of God’s love through our donations of quilts, health, layette, sewing and school kits, fabric, soap and contributions for shipping expenses.  One of the Mid-South congregations spent many hours sewing 209 quilts or another congregation packaged 178 school kits for Lutheran World Relief.  Whether we participate in ten or a hundred, we are an important part to one person in need.

A News Release was issued today from LWR saying the first shipment of health kits and layettes to Haiti has arrived safely.  They are appealing to U.S. supporters to increase donations of quilts and kits in order to meet the needs in Haiti and around the world. The road to recovery for the people of Haiti will be a long one.  LWR is committed to seeing this work through.
